The Chase viewers were given a whopping surprise on today’s instalment, when a new Chaser was unveiled.
Host Bradley Walsh revealed there was a newcomer in the line-up, alongside gameshow staples The Vixen and The Beast – introducing us all to Darragh Ennis.
If he looks a little familiar to you, it’s because he actually took part on the show two years ago as a contestant.
‘The Dublin dynamo,’ Bradley cheered, branding him ‘D-Ennis the menace’.
Darragh started his Chaser career off in style, getting a little bit of fighting talk in with first contestant, Clint.
‘Welcome, Clint, it’s very nice to see you,’ he said.
‘I’ll always remember you as the first contestant I ever faced, and the first one I ever caught, as well.’
Chatting about his previous appearance on the show, the newbie joked: ‘It’s much nicer up here, the seats are more comfy.
‘I’m the only one who knows what it’s like to be down there and how intimidating it really is.’
Darragh had a tough final round but narrowly beat the contestants in the last few seconds to make his debut a success.
Fans watching on from home couldn’t cope with the new addition to the panel, and promptly flocked to Twitter to discuss the scenes.
‘I love the new chaser. I want him to be my teacher when I was at school #TheChase,’ a viewer commented.
‘This new chaser seems nice! He must be so nervous to go on here and be a chaser,’ another agreed.
‘Specially from being a contestant. Good on him and well done for getting this job. #thechase.’
A Twitter user penned: ‘This new chaser is very likeable, that likeable I like him a lot. #TheChase.’
One went so far as to brand him their ‘favourite chaser’, just moments after his debut.
‘The new chaser @bones_giles said his favourite band is Oasis and now he’s officially my new favourite chaser #TheChase,’ they added.
The Chase continues on weekdays, at 5pm, on ITV.
