The Chase viewers were left stunned on Wednesday’s show, after a brave contestant won an incredible £40,000 showdown with The Beast.
Contestant Steph only claimed £1,000 in her cash builder round, but managed to hustle the Beast after he offered £40,000 in the head to head round.
Her gamble to take a step closer to the chaser paid off in emphatic style, and she went on to play against Mark Labbett to win the cash for the prize fund.
Fans were full of congratulations for Steph, with host Bradley Walsh praising her for stepping out of her comfort zone.
‘Steph, I absolutely love that,’ fan George Lineker wrote.
‘Go on Steph! Howler of a cash builder then nailed the beast for 40k when no one thought she could,’ another viewer wrote.
Her quiz team companions didn’t fare quite so well, and Steph headed into the final with just one companion and £47,000 to play for.
Unfortunately for them, the Beast was on good form in the final round and Steph went home with nothing.
The chase has been in the news recently, with new chaser Darragh Ennis joining Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Jenny ‘The Vixen’ Ryan, Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace and Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha on the show.
