The Chase’s new Chaser Darragh Ennis ‘The Menace’ has claimed more than one victory after his first episode of the hit quiz show – as his debut was watched by a record number of viewers.

The Chase hit an all time high of 4.9 million viewers, which is huge for a daytime show – and outside of news and sport, it was the most watched daytime programme across ITV all year.

We all REALLY were excited to meet the new Chaser it seems, nicknamed the Dublin Dynamo by host Bradley Walsh.

Darragh, a previous contestant who won the show against Paul Sinha in an impressive performance, has gone down a storm with viewers and he impressed the a ten correct answer spree after a slightly shaky start to his first final chase.

He defeated his first team of contestants with seven seconds to spare.

The new record achieved by the show beats the previous ratings record which was as far back as…the previous episode, which lodged 4.8 million viewers.

Speaking of working with fellow Chasers, Darragh enthused: ‘If you have a bad show they are incredibly sympathetic and they help you.

‘It’s a really nice environment that we all work in. We all try to help each other out. So I think they should be really happy with that.’

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
