The Chase star Paul Sinha has addressed his co-star Jenny Ryan appearing to ‘punch’ him during a recent episode of Beat The Chasers.
The quizzer – known on the show as The Sinnerman – was competing alongside ‘The Vixen’ Jenny when they were asked a Star Wars question by host Bradley Walsh.
With Paul answering wrong, resident Star Wars expert Jenny gave him a glare and appeared to lightly punch him in the arm, with one fan calling her reaction ‘priceless’.
The Chaser has since addressed the video, describing the situation as ‘p**s funny’.
Paul, who has previously opened up about his Parkinson’s diagnosis, wrote on Twitter: ‘Since I’ve given up on anyone’s narrative being “The Parky guy is answering a lot of questions”, I shall address that punch.
‘I know Sweet FA about Star Wars. It just wasn’t my question to answer. I just heard a hard T sound twice and assumed the answer must be Tatooine.
‘Because we make mistakes. Jenny was right to be angry. Neither of us were tight to stare at each other. Both of us had totally forgotten that the next question was ours [sic].
‘In that four seconds, both of us looked ridiculous. It was exhilirating at the time, and piss funny as well. It is funny when things go wrong. I didnt make the same mistake again, Jenny never punched anyone again [sic].
‘After nine months of lockdown, loss of work, rules, regulations, frustration – it felt amazing to get punched by a great friend in a totally farcical incident. i just hadn’t had enough of that in 2020.’
He added: ‘I now realise I didn’t even address the actual punch. I didn’t even know. I was told after. It was nothing. Two grown adults glaring at each other unawRe that Bradley was asking us a question. That was the shameful/p**s funny bit. Incidentally a lot else happened in the episode [sic].’
Beat The Chasers sees contestants take on the five quizzers, with Mark aka The Beast, Anne Hegerty (The Governess), Shaun Wallace (The Dark Destroyer), Paul and Jenny back in action.
One contestant, chartered accountant Kat Glennie-Soares, impressed them when she recently took home a whopping £50,000 following a faultless performance on the programme.
Where other players would have been intimidated to face all five of the expert quizzers, Kat took it all in her stride and won the cash prize with 20 seconds left to spare.
Beat the Chasers returns tonight at 9pm on ITV.
