Paul Sinha, star of The Chase, has admitted that his biggest regret as a youth was being an addict.
The 53-year-old quiz show host came up about his gambling addiction and claimed he regretted ever entering a betting shop.
‘It’s the one avenue of error where I don’t think any positivity came out of it at all, just a lot of financial losses,’ he explained.
‘So, it’s not that every bad event has a sliding doors silver lining, it’s just most of them do.’
Paul told Kate Thornton on her White Wine Question Time podcast he contemplates his previous addiction ‘a lot’ because ‘at its worst I was very bad indeed.’
Revealing he had kicked the habit, he said: ‘Now, I can walk past a betting shop and not even have the slightest inclination to walk in, and I think fundamentally, I’m not bored anymore.’
Instead, Paul has found a new ‘high’ to alleviate his boredom: his smartphone.
He stated that he no longer felt compelled to gamble because the ‘whole world is in his hands’ as a result of his phone, which had satisfied his curiosity.
‘I don’t need to gamble to get my high,’ Paul concluded.
Paul has also been candid about his Parkinson’s disease diagnosis, which he received in 2019, the same year he married his boyfriend Oliver Levy and was voted British Quiz Champion Of The Year.
Last year, he admitted that it was a ‘relief’ to receive the diagnosis, as he was able to ‘own’ it, and more recently shared his anger after a fan tried to hide his ‘shaky hand’ in a photo.
