The Chase viewers claim The Governess Anne Hegerty got ‘easy ride’ as contestants rack up ‘lowest ever total’

The Chase viewers shared their sympathy for contestants racking up the show’s ‘lowest ever total’ – believing Anne Hegerty was given an ‘easy ride’ with the questions.

On Monday night’s episode of the daytime quiz show, four new hopefuls were put up against the quizmaster, who recently appeared in Planes, Brains and Automobiles, in order to win some cash.

Racking up only £14,000 in the cashbuilder rounds, the team found themselves in trouble when they only answered seven questions in the final chase.

They then sadly saw their prize pot disappear in less than 30 seconds, withThe Governess Anne zooming through and catching up with them, eliminating them.

But some viewers thought it was a bit unfair, with one stating: ‘Contestants were given an impossibly hard set of questions while the chaser had the possibly the easiest set I’ve seen on the show.’

‘My god the final chase q’s for the team were HARD, I got a few more than them but really not by much,’ added another.

Even Anne admitted she was shocked at the questions they were given, and told them: ‘You got some tricky ones there, and you let that affect your heads, and then you started getting ones wrong that you should’ve got right.’

However, some felt that the team were in over their head anyway, with other viewers saying their lack of know-how would’ve left them in a bad position anyway.

‘That had to be the most embarrassing final I’ve ever seen in The Chase. Absolute car crash!!!,’ wrote one viewer. ‘Never seen one quite so bad!!!’

‘7 is one of the worst I’ve seen, I got 6 on my own,’ added another.

We guess all is fair in love and quiz shows….

The Chase continues weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
