The Chase star Darragh Ennis has revealed he’s been supported by Jenny Ryan after being trolled online.
The new quizzer made his first appearance on the ITV game show last month, joining Jenny ‘The Vixen’, Anne ‘The Governess’ Hegerty, Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett, Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace and Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha.
Darragh shared his co-star Jenny has had his back on social media after being targeted by cruel keyboard warriors.
‘She [Jenny] had a very hard time at the start, she had a lot, she got a lot of bad social media interaction,’ he said. ‘And that upset her quite a bit. It’s not, it’s not nice, very unpleasant, the people trolling you.
‘But she’s been very good with me, especially with social media at the start so I don’t get swamped. Because it’s been a bit of a mad few days.’
Speaking to The Mirror, he continued: ‘There’s a lot of people out there who are very abusive towards contestants if they make mistakes, or if they take the low offer. And I won’t countenance that at all.
‘I won’t listen to that, because it’s very unfair. And it’s a very stressful, difficult situation for a lot of people.’
He tweeted that he was to be the sixth Chaser in April, writing: ‘I’m really excited to be the 6th chaser on #TheChase . ‘
I’ve been working hard on this for a while now and can’t wait for my episodes to air. Well the ones I win anyway.’
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
