Anne Hegerty has revealed that her The Chase co-star Mark Labbett is keen to present his own gameshow amid the success of her programme Britain’s Brightest Family and the recent launch of Paul Sinha’s TV Showdown.

The second series of Britain’s Brightest Celebrity Family is currently airing on ITV, with Anne taking on presenting duties as she welcomes celebrities including Joe Pasquale, Antony Cotton, Vanessa Feltz and Colin Jackson to test their wits with their relatives.

Earlier this year, Paul followed in her footsteps by launching his own show called TV Showdown, where he invites two celebrity teams led by captains Fay Ripley and Rob Beckett to take part in a TV trivia quiz.

While The Chase is what they are best-known for, and it’s spin-off Beat The Chasers, during a recent interview with Metro.co.uk and other press, Anne addressed whether there is a sense of rivalry between the Chasers and their respective solo projects.

The Governess explained that The Beast is particularly eager to front a gameshow – but just hasn’t come across the right opportunity yet.

‘I think that Mark, The Beast, would really like to present a gameshow. And I keep saying to him, you know, look, it will happen, I know it will. But he just hasn’t yet found the right one,’ Anne said.

‘We’re all, virtually all of us have got some sort of side project of some kind which is nice. I mean, Darragh [Ennis] hasn’t yet, but give him time, he’s new. And Darragh is very good at interacting with people on social media and sort of getting that sort of thing going for himself.’

Anne acknowledged that there might be a slight ‘element of jealousy’ when it comes to their work outside of The Chase.

‘There’s maybe an element of jealousy, but we’ve all got things that we’re doing,’ she stated.

‘Sometimes we don’t tell each other until it’s definitely settled and it’s going to come off, but we all hope that all of us are going to come up with something certainly.’

In a true show of competitiveness, Anne said that she likes the idea of the Chasers going up against each other on a gameshow with their families, as she’s aware that ‘my fellow Chasers have actually pretty smart families’.

‘The Vixen, for example, her team in Bolton is made up largely of her mum and her stepdad,’ she added. ‘So I know that’s actually quite a smart family.’

Now that’s a showdown we’d love to see.

Britain’s Brightest Celebrity Family airs on Thursdays at 8.30pm on ITV.
