The Crown season 5 has received another boost after actress Claudia Harrison was revealed to be playing Princess Anne.

The actress, known for her roles in The Cat’s Meow, Humans and Murphy’s Law, will take over from Erin Doherty in the role.

The 45-year-old also starred alongside Daniel Craig in 2005 series Archangel, and alongside Line Of Duty star Adrian Dunbar in 2003 movie Suspicion.

Claudia was spotted on set at Scotland’s Covesea Lighthouse, as production stepped up on the new episodes.

She was seen alongside the likes of Imelda Staunton who plays Queen Elizabeth II in the upcoming season.

Claudia is filming alongside Theo Fraser Steele, who is alleged to be playing Anne’s second husband Timothy Laurence.

Filming on the series is well underway, with actress Imelda recently pictured boarding a royal boat in Macduff, Scotland.

Imelda takes over as the Queen from Olivia Colman, 47, who has portrayed the British monarch for the past two seasons.

Earlier this year, Imelda admitted she was ‘terrified’ to take on the challenge of portraying the modern-day Queen, with the final sixth season of The Crown set to bring the tale of the royal family up to the present day.

Elsewhere, Game of Thrones star Jonathan Pryce is taking over from Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip and Lesley Manville is replacing Helena Bonham-Carter as Princess Margaret.

Elizabeth Debicki, known for Tenet and Guardians Of The Galaxy, will replace Emma Corrin as Princess Diana, while it has been rumoured that Dominic West is in discussions about playing Prince Charles

There are plenty of major stars working on the new series, but someone who wasn’t involved was Sarah Ferguson.

Sarah recently revealed that she approached The Crown bosses to offer some insider knowledge, but was snubbed.

The Duchess of York’s 1986 marriage to Prince Andrew featured in the fourth series of the Netflix regal drama, with Jessica Aquilina playing her opposite Tom Byrne as her now ex-husband.

The Crown is available to stream on Netflix.
