The official teaser for The Crown season 6 has been published, revealing a first glimpse at how the drama will represent Princess Diana’s death.
The renowned Netflix series’ final season will be released in two parts later this year, with Imelda Staunton reprising her role as Queen Elizabeth II, as well as Dominic Cooper as Prince Charles and Elizabeth Debicki as the Princess of Wales.
A new teaser emphasises how, just before her death at the age of 36 in 1997, Diana was continually trailed by a swarm of photographers who had no qualms about intruding on her personal life.
It begins with Diana sitting pensively at a piano, saying in a voiceover: ‘I don’t really understand how I ended up here.’
She’s then seen sitting alone on the edge of a yacht’s diving board before going for a jog with a partner, all while being photographed by a slew of cameras.
The princess continues: ‘Dashing around, and losing sight of myself in the process.’
Diana is shown playing the piano again, this time with her reflection towering above her on the lid of the grand instrument, in a symbolic photo that is bound to depict the dual nature of Diana’s place in society – as simply Diana and as the worldwide recognised Princess of Wales.
The Crown season 6 will be released on Netflix in two parts this year, on November 16 and on December 14.
