The Gadget Show has revealed the secrets to filming your own Fast and Furious – and it’ll set you back some serious cash.
Ortis Deley is tasked with creating his own high speed chase in tonight’s episode, while obviously getting to play with all the gadgets to make that happen.
Which is perfect timing for those grieving the upcoming end of the Fast and Furious franchise and want to come up with an extension to the long-running series themselves.
But an exclusive clip to Metro.co.uk proves it’s harder than you think – and a hell of a lot more expensive.
Hitting the race track, Ortis is introduced to Jim Swanson, a camera operator of Helicopter Film Services, who’s responsible for high-speed scenes in films including Avengers: Infinity War, Spider-Man: Far From Home and Kingsmen.
Introduced to the $35,000 (£27,460) piece of kit, the camera is rigged to the back of a car that is then controlled by the passenger seat of the person inside.
Pitting two pro-driven Porsches against each other on a race track though, Ortis soon had a rude awakening as he discovered it was harder than it looked to control the camera, especially when it’s going super fast.
Horrified at the speed, Ortis was soon scrambling to get any usable footage, and the results are… less than impressive.
At least you can say you tried, Ortis! Maybe stick to an iPhone in future though.
While Ortis is out living his film scene fantasies, Georgie Barrat’s ‘G Team’ are teaming up with a drag artist, using technology to send their look into the 22nd century.
Jon Bentley might have the greatest job though, and is going to be paid to spend the day lying in bed… several beds, to be precise, all with technological add-ons to put a spin on your night time.
The Gadget Show airs Fridays at 7pm Friday on Channel 5 and My5 catchup TV.
