The Games: Olivia Atwood breaks down as she struggles with the javelin event: ‘I’m f***ing embarrassed’

Olivia Atwood broke down in tears after struggling with the javelin event during Wednesday’s episode of The Games.

The Love Island star is taking part in ITV’s sporting competition this week which sees 12 celebrities battle it out against each other.

However, the 31-year-old couldn’t hold back the tears in training after describing the competition as an ‘exposing experience’ which has forced her to reveal the ‘layers’ people don’t see.

While practicing her javelin skills with Mel B’s daughter Phoenix Gulzar-Brown and songwriter Chelcee Grimes, Olivia stormed out in tears of frustration, saying: ‘Now I’m f***ing embarrassed because it’s going to be s***.’

She later explained: ‘Today has been the hardest day for me, I am trying to remember why I started this, because I love sport.

‘I play a character people have bought into, that I’m confident but there are layers to me people haven’t seen, I don’t let people see them.

‘At school I was streams ahead of everyone but now I am not the top of this group and it’s an exposing experience.

‘It’s a competition but I’m here for me and I need to focus on me.’

Despite the nerves and tears, Olivia achieved a personal best, with her second javelin throw reaching 11.38m.

Elsewhere in the programme, ITV newsreader Lucrezia Millarini suffered an almighty fall right at the end of the finish line.

As well as the pre-recorded javelin contest, the women competed in a highly-anticipated 400m race, which took place live from Crystal Palace National Sports Centre in London.

It was hardly a neck-and-neck competition, with Chelcee coming in first place a full six seconds before anyone else crossed the line, however, the fight for second place between Lucrezia and Emmerdale’s Rebecca Sarker looked to be anyone’s game at first – until Lucrezia took a tumble.

Just as she was about to cross the finish line, the reporter, who had previously suffered an ankle injury, slowed and then stumbled, landing on the line face-first.

But with Phoenix hot on her heels, Lucrezia didn’t waste any time and rolled over the line, still on the ground, to clinch third place, with Phoenix coming in fourth, and Olivia following.

Lucrezia herself saw the funny side, as she took to Twitter to write: ‘Nothing quite like skidding over the finish line!’

The Games continues Thursday night at 9pm on ITV.
