The Great British Bake Off: Series 12 teaser is finally here – ‘Loaf is in the air’

This is not a drill, a new series of The Great British Bake Off is on the way and we can hardly contain our excitement.

The official GBBO Twitter page shared a short but sweet trailer which well and truly got viewers hyped.

The cryptic 14-second teaser shows merely a birds eye view of the iconic Bake Off tent, with the jaunty theme music we all know and love playing in the background.

Of course, an opportunity for a baking pun was not to be missed, with the show tweeting alongside the video: ‘Loaf is in the air… The Great British Bake Off. Coming Soon. #GBBO.’

Fans were quick to share their joy that the nation’s favourite baking show is returning, with one Twitter user writing: ‘Honestly crying, i need this joy in my life [sic]’

Another said: ‘Yessssss! This is what we need, bring on the bakes [sic].’

The upcoming season of GBBO will be its 12th, as a fresh batch of contestants make their way to the tent, hoping they can rise to the challenge.

Bake Off fanatics will be pleased to hear Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas are returning as hosts, and king of the handshake Paul Hollywood, along with Prue Leith, will be scrutinising spectacular show stoppers and the occasional soggy bottom.

Comedian Matt, 47, recently revealed to Lorraine Kelly that the show will take all precautions as the pandemic continues. He teased: ‘We’re starting very soon. Like last year we’re going into a bubble. All self-isolating and getting tested and then we’re going into Covid-free bubble, so we can all taste each other’s bakes and there can be handshakes and all sorts.’

The national treasure will return to Channel 4 after reaching global success and now being available to stream on Netflix.

It’s been a long year without our favourite baking show, but this series promises to be batter than ever.

We are yet to meet the contestants, but according to presenter Matt, there are some ‘brilliant ones’ in there.

Who will have what it bakes? And who will crumble?

The Great British Bake Off returns to Channel 4 this September.
