The cast of new Darling Buds of May reboot The Larkins have introduced themselves ahead of the series arriving on ITV, and Bradley Walsh has wasted no time in turning on the charm.

The actor, comedian and Chase host is leading the cast as loveable wheeler dealer Pop Larkin, and he stands proudly with his on-screen family in the new pictures.

A release date for upcoming series has also been confirmed, with the new episodes arriving on October 10.

Bradley is starring alongside Joanna Scanlan, Peter Davison and Bridgerton’s Sabrina Bartlett in the six part series.

It’s a family affair for Bradley, as his son Barney is also appearing in the new adaptation of H. E. Bates’s 1958 novel.

The Darling Buds of May reboot is written by Simon Nye (The Durrells, Men Behaving Badly) and Abigail Wilson (Stella, Trollied).

Like the classic show, which starred the likes of Sir David Jason, Pam Ferris and Catherine Zeta-Jones in the early 90s, The Larkins tells the story of a working-class family with six children led by Pop and his wife Ma.

There’s also a new trailer for the show which sees the characters introduce themselves, beginning with Bradley’s Pop speaking to the viewer.

Previously speaking about the series, Bradley said: ‘I’m thrilled to be asked to be part of this much loved and iconic series of stories.

‘The warmth and affection that H. E Bates has generated through his books is so uplifting and I cannot wait to be part of the Larkin family. It’ll be a hoot!’

Joanna added: ‘What better comfort could there be from all we have endured this year than the rolling laughter and outsize hugs of Ma and Pop?

‘It’s going to be an honour to help bring The Larkins to the nation’s devices!’

Bradley fans will be looking forward to seeing him in the new series – and they should be enjoying him while they can, after the star suggested he’ll be ready to retire in a few years’ time.

The presenter, who was recently announced as the one of the richest daytime TV stars with ‘an impressive £12.5million in the bank’, has announced he is preparing to call it a day in the coming years.

The Larkins arrive on ITV on October 10 at 8pm.
