The Larkins: Plot, trailer, cast and release date for Bradley Walsh’s Darling Buds of May reboot

Bradley Walsh is lining up to star in a brand new show, with the Darling Buds of May reboot coming to ITV in October.

The series is a fresh take on the 90s series, which tells the story of a working-class family with six children led by Pop and his wife Ma.

The reboot has a wealth of talent behind it, with Simon Nye (The Durrells, Men Behaving Badly) and Abigail Wilson (Stella, Trollied) writing the show.

Bradley said: ‘I’m thrilled to be asked to be part of this much loved and iconic series of stories.

‘The warmth and affection that H. E Bates has generated through his books is so uplifting and I cannot wait to be part of the Larkin family. It’ll be a hoot!’

Actor, comedian and Chase host Bradey leads the cast as loveable wheeler dealer Pop Larkin in the new take on the classic show.

He’s joined by Joanna Scanlan who plays his wife Ma, while Tony Gardner, Robert Bathurst, Amelia Bullmore, Tok Stephen, Peter Davison and Bridgerton star Sabrina Bartlett also appear in the six part series.

Bradley is also joined by a member of his family in the cast, as his son Barney is also appearing in the new adaptation of H. E. Bates’s 1958 novel.

Speaking about the series, Joanna said: ‘What better comfort could there be from all we have endured this year than the rolling laughter and outsize hugs of Ma and Pop?

‘It’s going to be an honour to help bring The Larkins to the nation’s devices!’

Is there a trailer for The Larkins?

The trailer gives a glimpse of what’s to come from the new episodes, taking viewers to the heart of the hectic, but loving family life of the Larkins.

The clips also hints that romance could be on the cards in the village, as Pop interacts with a cast of local characters.

A recently released teaser clip for the show also sees the characters introduce themselves ahead of the new episodes, with Bradley speaking in character directly to the viewer.

 

He ends the video by saying the character’s famous catchphrase ‘perfick!’.

When is The Larkins released on ITV?

A release date for upcoming series has also been confirmed, with the new episodes arriving on October 10.

The series will debut at 8pm and air weekly in the same time slot.
