The Malone family finish filming Gogglebox and confirm when Channel 4 series will return

The Malone family have bid farewell to viewers after completing filming on the current series of Gogglebox, while also confirming when the Channel 4 show will be back on our screens.

The 17th season of Gogglebox has seen the stars of the programme reacting to several monumental TV moments, from Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey to the divisive series six finale of Line of Duty.

The Malone family went through a significant change ahead of the premiere, with Tom Malone Jr – who’s been on the show since 2014 – quitting a day before it returned.

His sister, Vanessa Malone, took his place on the family couch, joining her brother Shaun Malone and parents Tom Malone Sr and Julie Malone as they announced in a new video that their time filming on the current series was over.

‘Well that’s it for this series. Have a good summer and we’ll see you all in September,’ Julie said in the video.

‘Hopefully things will be better when we get back for the next series but it’s been great being on there, we’ve all enjoyed it, haven’t we?’ Tom Sr said, to which Vanessa replied: ‘Yeah, we had a great time.’

After wishing their fans a fun summer in the sunshine, Vanessa said: ‘See you in September!’, as the family said ‘bye’ and waved at the camera.

Several Twitter users admitted that September felt like a long way away, with one writing in response: ‘Noooooooooooo!!!! That’s a lifetime away! Have a wonderful Summer folks xx.’

‘We’ve got to wait til September???????? Rude!!! Have a great summer – thanks for all the laughs getting me through lockdown x,’ another replied.

This Friday’s episode of Gogglebox will be the last of the series.

Last week, Gogglebox stars Jenny Newby and Lee Rigby shared a video on Instagram revealing that they were in their last week of filming, much to their fans’ disappointment.

‘Oh no..don’t go, you are the highlight of my week,’ one said.

‘Aw ye should just film yourselves and post it on here until the next series,’ another suggested.

Gogglebox airs on Friday at 9pm on Channel 4.
