Warning: spoilers ahead for episode 2 of The Mandalorian season 2.
Episode 2 of The Mandalorian season 2 saw Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his adorable companion The Child face one of their most terrifying threats yet, when they unwittingly crossed paths with giant ice spiders, the largest of which was bigger than their spaceship.
Fortunately, Mando, Baby Yoda and the Frog Lady – who had joined them on their ship – managed to get away, continuing on their voyage in search of more Mandalorians.
While the episode packed a huge punch, it also left us asking even more questions than we’d had previously about how this season of the Star Wars series will unfold.
As we await the next instalment of the new season on Disney Plus, here are some of the questions we had after watching episode 2.
Who is the Frog Lady?
When we meet the Frog Lady in episode 2, she is introduced as a somewhat minor character who needs the help of the Mandalorian to safely travel across space to regroup with her husband.
However, something about episode 2 has made us think that perhaps she – and her eggs – play a bigger role in the plot of season 2 than we may have previously supposed.
Not only does the Frog Lady reveal she’s a tech whizz, accessing a droid’s vocabulator to communicate with Din, but her eggs are shown to be incredibly mesmerising – and appetising – to The Child, who sneakily gobbles an egg or two when he thinks no one is looking.
Perhaps she’s going to play a bigger role in the season going forward?
When will Boba Fett reappear?
The Mandalorian season 2 premiere ended with one of the most satisfying surprises in Star Wars history – the confirmation of Boba Fett’s survival after seemingly falling to his death in the 1983 film Return of the Jedi.
But where is the infamous bounty hunter now?
While The Mandalorian is holding onto Boba’s old armour, the man himself is nowhere to be seen. We wouldn’t worry too much though, as he’s bound to reappear sometime soon.
Will the Razor Crest experience more technical issues?
The Mandalorian’s ship the Razor Crest was not in the best shape when they departed from the icy planet they landed on, with Mando fixing it up as best as he could before they set off on their journey again.
Will the trio arrive at their destination unscathed, or will the ship face more technical issues en route, requiring a pit stop? Knowing the Star Wars series, we’d put our money on the latter.
Will Din finally find more Mandalorians?
Considering this is Din’s main mission in season 2 – to find more Mandalorians so that he can help The Child reunite with his species – we have a feeling it’s not going to be resolved any time soon.
However, perhaps we could see him run into Boba, unaware that the man he’s meeting is the one who previously owned the Mandalorian armour he’s carrying.
What else does Baby Yoda like to eat as part of his unusual diet?
We love Baby Yoda – always have, always will – but we can’t lie, his eating habits in the most recent episode of The Mandalorian were pretty gross.
Firstly, The Child kept on eating the Frog Lady’s eggs despite Mando clearly telling him not to. Very bad behaviour from the Force-sensitive youngster.
He then decided to eat a tiny spider from a pod on the icy planet, which resulted in thousands of ice spiders descending upon Baby Yoda, the Mandalorian and the Frog Lady. So not the wisest of ideas.
Having seen Baby Yoda happily consume frog spawn and spiders in just one episode, who knows what else the infant likes to eat.
What monster will we meet next week?
Season 2 of The Mandalorian has had an explosive start.
In the first episode, we saw the Mandalorian take on a monstrous Krayt dragon, which was terrorising a nearby town.
An episode later, he and his companions faced an enormous arachnid and thousands of ice spiders in spine-chilling scenes.
In keeping with the formula of the series, we suspect far more perilous threats are on the horizon.
Season 1 and the first two episodes of season 2 of The Mandalorian are available to watch on Disney Plus.
