ITV has confirmed The Masked Dancer will be back for more, with Joel Dommett returning as host for eight brand new shiny episodes in 2022.

The Masked Dancer is the spin-off of hit series The Masked Singer, which is about to return for it’s third season in just a few weeks time.

After the initial popularity of The Masked Singer, ITV brought The Masked Dancer to screens last year.

It saw 12 celebrities seek to keep their identities a secret for as long as possible whilst performing some whacky dance routines for viewers.

Olympic gymnast and former Strictly winner Louis Smith was crowned the champion of season one after a week of guess work from viewers.

However, it was unclear whether there would be more of the series after the finale aired last summer.

But now fans can get their detective hats back on as the broadcaster has confirmed there will indeed be a season two to come next year.

Bandicoot managing director Derek McLean and creative director Daniel Nettleton said: ‘The Masked Dancer wowed audiences last year and we’re thrilled to bring back the show for another series of crazy costumes, mind-blowing moves and maddeningly compelling clues.

‘With the mayhem we’re lining up for 2022, we are already planning for the most bonkers series yet.’

Katie Rawcliffe, ITV head of entertainment commissioning, added: ‘Only on ‘The Masked Dancer’ would dancing flamingos, frogs and car washes keep the nation on the edge of their seats.

’We’re very happy to bring back more of the same bonkers entertainment in 2022.”

Last year’s panel included Oti Mabuse, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan.

The judging line-up for season two is yet to be confirmed, but with Jonathan, Davina and Mo all back for The Masked Singer, it’s likely they will return for the spin-off.

Season one also featured guest panellists such as John Bishop, Holly Willoughby and David Walliams, who gave out their verdicts on the mystery celebs.

It comes after host Joel previously hinted there may not be a second season of the show.

Speaking to RadioTimes.com, the commented: ‘Fingers crossed it comes back, it’s a privilege to be a part of a situation where it doesn’t matter too much if it doesn’t come back because The Masked Singer is the most important thing, really.

‘It’s nice to have that extra show in the middle of the year so we’ll see whether they both happen or just one of them happens.’

But it looks like The Masked Dancer certainly got the seal of approval, and we can’t wait for more!
