The Masked Singer semi-finals kicked underway with the announcement of two celebrities ahead of the final.
Following last week’s heartbreaking reveal, Cricket, Bigfoot, Piranha, Air Fryer, and Eiffel Tower competed for a position in the star-studded finals.
The judging panel, which included Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora, Lorraine Kelly, Davina McCall, and Mo Gilligan, broke down in tears several times during the night due to the heartfelt performances.
Unfortunately for Air Fryer, they were eliminated first, and their replacement was none other than Greatest Showman actress Keala Settle.
Ella Henderson, Whoopi Goldberg, Kimberly Wyatt, Jennifer Hudson, and Rebel Wilson were among those who made guesses, indicating that everyone was mistaken.
After being unmasked, the 48-year-old said: ‘There were so many close [guesses]. One of the guest judges you had, I actually knew Jennifer Saunders!
‘I did Sister Act in the West End with her. I was standing there going, “Please don’t guess me”.
‘It was a massive learning experience and it was a game changer for me.’
Keala, who has starred in several major Broadway productions, including Priscilla, Les Miserables, and Waitress, expressed her comfort while clothed in the complex attire.
‘The difficulty wasn’t really physical,’ she insisted. ‘You have this facade that you’re used to performing, being that person.
‘When this is off? That’s off, this is what they’re looking for.’
Referring to her costume, she joked: ‘I have got an air fryer and I absolutely love it!’
Season five began with a bang, with music great Dionne Warwick revealing herself as Weather in the opener, leaving us stunned.
In recent weeks, Pointless host Alexander Armstrong has taken off his Chicken Caesar costume.
Shirley Ballas was then revealed as Rat, and Julia Sawalha emerged from a Bubble Tea attire to a roaring acclaim from the studio crowd.
Lorraine was revealed as Owl before taking a place on the judging panel, revealing her backstage skills.
Melody Thornton and Nicky Campbell were revealed last week as Maypole and Dippy Egg, respectively.
This leaves Piranha, Eiffel Tower, Cricket, and Bigfoot to compete for the remaining three spots in next week’s final.
The Masked Singer continues on Saturday on ITV.
