Our third-placed star on The Masked Singer has been revealed, and Fawn has been unmasked!
After weeks of speculation, we now know that Natalie Appleton of All Saints was behind the mask all along.
When the performer removed her mask, the first to be revealed in the anticipated 2023 final, judges Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, and Mo Gilligan were left speechless.
Only Jonathan was slightly heated, guessing fellow All Saints member Shaznay Lewis was beneath the mask, despite predictions ranged from Sam Fox to Shania Twain.
Fawn competed against Rhino and Phoenix, each of whom sang a second song.
Of course, there was the question of going back through the clues and figuring out what we missed.
Images of demons and horns were included in one VT package as references to the band’s successful album, Saints and Sinners.
In one scene, Fawn chooses marmalade over jam, a reference to All Saints’ song Lady Marmalade.
A third hint picked up by TV host Jonathan was a reference to November 1, which is really All Saints’ Day!
Judge Davina acknowledged Natalie, 49, had the whole panel ‘confused,’ while Jonathan observed, ‘We don’t get to hear your voice like that very often where you’re singing those ballads.’
‘What an amazing act,’ he exclaimed.
Following her reveal, Natalie said: ‘I loved fooling you guys, it was such a buzz,; adding how amusing it was to be mistaken for country icon Shania.
‘I had the best time, it’s been amazing. I do recommend.’
All Saints, an English female band, created in London in 1993 as All Saints 1.9.7.5 by music manager Ron Tom, who later launched Sugababes.
All Saints was formed by Melanie Blatt, Simone Rainford, and Shaznay, however the trio struggled to achieve commercial success after signing with ZTT Records and was released by the company shortly after Simone departed.
Nicole and Natalie Appleton, Canadian-born sisters, joined the group in 1996 and signed to London Records under their shorter moniker.
They debuted their self-titled first album in 1997 and went on to record songs such as Never Ever, Black Coffee, and One Strike.
The Masked Singer is available to stream on ITVX.
