The Masked Singer UK: Fans convinced Robin is Aston Merrygold from JLS

The second season of The Masked Singer UK has kicked off to a flying start, with fans already hastening guesses at the celebrity identities behind the wacky costumes.

For the first round of The Masked Singer’s launch episode, Robin went up against Alien in front of panelists Rita Ora, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and newcomer Mo Gilligan.

Following an intro, which featured lots of fighting lingo, Robin performed an upbeat rendition of Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop The Feeling, showing off their fancy footwork on stage surrounded by an array of similarly dressed dancers.

While the panelists suspected that Robin could be a range of individuals, from Bruno Mars to Amir Khan, fans of the show are convinced he could be a certain performer who shot to fame with his band during the fifth series of The X Factor.

Yes – it’s looking like Robin could turn out to be JLS’ very own Aston… but will the predictions of the viewers turn out to be true?

‘Robin is Aston from JLS alllll day long!!! If I’m wrong I don’t deserve to be a fan,’ one person said.

Another person pointed out that Aston danced to Can’t Stop The Feeling when he competed on Strictly Come Dancing with his professional dance partner Janette Manrara.

Adding even more fuel to the speculation, at the end of their performance, Robin hinted to the panelists that they are ‘flying without wings’.

Which, of course, takes after the song JLS sang with Westlife while competing on The X Factor.

It’s all adding up!

This year’s series won’t feature comedian Ken Jeong on the panel, as he was unable to return to the show due to international travel restrictions.

He has been replaced by comedian Mo, although there is a possibility he could make a special appearance on the show.

The Masked Singer will be available to watch on ITV Player.
