Grandfather Clock has become the fourth contestant to be eliminated on The Masked Singer UK, leaving viewers in an utter state of shock as the secret celebrity performer was unmasked.
During the latest show, several of the costumed stars took to the stage yet again to show off their singing chops, including Blob, Bush Baby and Harlequin.
Viking and Grandfather Clock landed in the bottom two, the deciding vote residing with the four judges.
As they announced their decision for Grandfather Clock to leave the competition, the competitor took off the top part of their costume, revealing none other than football manager Glenn Hoddle underneath.
Well if that wasn’t an incredible reveal!
Several viewers expressed their surprise over Grandfather Clock’s true identity.
‘Well, I for one, am impressed with the singing capability of Glenn Hoddle!’ one person said.
‘Wow didn’t call that one. Glenn Hoddle as Grandfather Clock on The Masked Singer. Hid that well,’ another remarked.
A number of people admitted that they had no idea Glenn could sing.
‘Glenn Hoddle can sing!!!!! How did I miss that one!!!!!’ one Twitter user said.
‘Didn’t even think of Glenn Hoddle!!!!’ someone else added.
Speaking about his time on The Masked Singer UK, former footballer Glenn explained that he’s ‘always had a passion for singing’ and so when the opportunity came to appear on the show, the offer ‘was too good to say no to’.
He recalled that ‘the heat was incredible’ when performing in his costume, which he stated was a ‘little restrictive’.
‘I was so nervous and the heat was incredible,’ he stated.
‘I thought I was going to be ok as I have performed live before but this was a totally different experience and well out my normal comfort zone.’
While he was ‘gutted’ to leave, teasing that he had ‘some great songs lined up’, Glenn ‘loved the experience’ and was ‘just happy to have taken part’.
For his first song of the night, Glenn performed Frank Sinatra’s You Make Me Feel So Young.
He then chose Barry Manilow’s Can’t Smile Without You for his sing-off against Viking, which he sang for a second time at the end of the show.
In the first week of The Masked Singer UK, Sophie Ellis-Bextor became the first competitor to be axed, having performed as Alien.
The Masked Singer returns next Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
