The Masked Singer UK: Is Viking Really James Blunt?

The Masked Singer is back with a bang in its second series, and the competition is hotting up after the second contestant was revealed to be Mel B on Saturday.

Fans at home have been coming up with their own theories about the remaining singers, and many believe that Viking could be James Blunt.

Viking sang Songbird by Fleetwood Mac on Saturday’s show, receiving a standing ovation from the judges for an impressive performance during a face-off with Seahorse.

While there are several names being suggested on social media for Seahorse, many viewers are of the opinion it’s none other than the British singer-songwriter.

The musician rose to fame in 2004 with the success of his album Back To Bedlam, which sold over 11 million copies and included the hit single You’re Beautiful.

‘I’m convinced Viking is James Blunt because it sounds exactly like him,’ one viewer wrote.

Another viewer also did some detective work, saying that the way the singer had emphasises the word ‘King’ is his VT was a reference to James serving in the Lifeguards.

‘I may be a Viking but I also wear another kind of armour,’ the singer said after the performance. Could this be another reference to James serving in the army?

We’ll have to wait to see the true identity revealed, although viewers seem pretty convinced.

It’s the most recent theory fans have come up with, after many suggested that Harlequin could be singer Gabrielle.

Season two of hit talent show The Masked Singer aired on Boxing Day, with comedian Mo Gilligan joining Rita Ora, Davina McCall and Jonathan Ross on the panel as Joel Dommett resumed presenting duties.

Alien was eliminated from the competition after delivering a funky rendition of Don’t Start Now by Dua Lipa in the first week, turning out to be Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Seahorse was also revealed to be Spice Girls band member Mel B in the second week.

The Masked Singer returns on Saturday at 7pm on ITV.
