Caitlyn Jenner has become the second star eliminated from The Masked Singer US – declaring she was ‘just on the show to have fun’ while dressed as Phoenix.
The Olympic athlete and Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was given her marching orders after the audience vote, joining last week’s eliminated contestant, Kermit The Frog.
The 71-year-old former I’m A Celeb campmate looked delighted as she managed to evade some of the judges’ guesses – with Robin Thicke suggesting she was Laverne Cox and Nicole Scherzinger believing it was Jonathan Van Ness.
Jenny McCarthy was the only one to guess correctly, while Ken Jeong initially thought it was Caitlyn, but switched to RuPaul when clues led him in the wrong direction.
Laughing as her mask was removed, Caitlyn said: ‘Ken, you will always be an idiot! What are we going to do with you? I don’t know.’
‘I like challenges. I’ve raced cars, I fly airplanes, it kind of keeps you going. Something new, something different. So for me it was fun,’ she continued.
‘You can only work on the golf game for so long.’
As for what her children – including Kylie and Kendall Jenner – will think about the latest stint, she said: ‘They’ve always known dad’s a little crazy and will try anything.
‘Life’s short – you’ve got to enjoy it.
‘I’ll be on the golf course tomorrow, don’t feel sorry for me!’
In the list of clues, Phoenix was seen to have multiple baby phoenixes, and said they were ‘hidden behind a mask most of their life’.
Saying that they were a ‘winner baby’, the masked performer added: ‘Phoenix has only one speed – 76 miles per hour’ as a direct reference to Caitlyn’s 1976 win at the Olympics.
Performing to Kesha’s Tik Tok, Caitlyn’s distinctive voice gave the judges their biggest clue, with several guessing it was the star before her face was revealed.
The Masked Singer US airs Wednesdays on FOX.
