The Masked Singer US unveils music legend Paul Anka as Broccoli

The Masked Singer US unveiled Canadian music legend Paul Anka as the Broccoli in scenes that aired last night, with Robin Thicke correctly guessing the singer’s identity.

The 79-year-old artist was revealed during the special Thanksgiving show after losing the Smackdown against the Mushroom.

Paul sang Old Time Rock & Roll by Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band for his final performance.

Judge Nicole Scherzinger reckoned it was Wayne Newton hiding underneath the costume, while Ken Jeong thought it was Ringo Starr, Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg’s guess was Neil Sedaka and guest panelist Jay Pharoah thought Paul Simon.

Speaking after his great unmasking, Paul exclaimed: ‘It was a great, great gig. In 65 years I’ve never been out of work so I said, you know what I gotta get on the board again and I’m going to go and have some fun because I want to come home and enjoy it with the kids.’

He continued: ‘I’m very humbled because we have gone through something in our country. To have this kind of fun and enjoy this, like this, you should all be very proud.’

As Nicola applauded Paul, she said: ‘We hate to see you go home but it’s perfect that you were unmasked during Thanksgiving weekend because we are so, so truly grateful to have you.

‘Thank you.’

Paul’s exit from the competition follows surgeon Dr Elvis Francois, who was unmasked as the serpent, and NBA player Lonzo Ball, who was undercover as Whatchamacallit.
