Jason Manford joined The One Show presenters Alex Jones and Roman Kemp this evening, but his cheeky charm was contagious.
The 42-year-old comic was discussing his involvement in this year’s Manchester Opera House pantomime when Alex, 46, made a joke that had everyone in stitches.
As an embarrassed Alex, who has lately had some health concerns, took a few breaths to cool himself, Roman, 30, anxiously sought to reclaim control of the programme.
Sparking the derailing of the interview, a picture of Jason in costume with his fellow cast mates caused Alex to innocently exclaim: ‘Are you Jack and the beanstalk?’
‘You’re playing both roles of Jack and the whole beanstalk,’ joked Roman as the Welsh presenter corrected herself and said: ‘Well not the beanstalk.’
This is when Jason decided to cause trouble as he cheekily responded: ‘Well depends what you’ve heard.’
While Jason struggled to keep a straight face, fellow visitor Michael Ball, 61, couldn’t stop laughing as Roman placed his head in his hands, chuckling.
Doubling down – in the style of a pantomime – the comedian added: ‘Oh no he isn’t!’
Recovering from their giggling fit he gave a little information about the show, claiming he was the ‘oldest Jack in town.’
To this, Alex helpfully responded: ‘Nah, you can pull it off!’
Quick as anything, Jason quipped ‘careful’, provoking further giggles from the hosts before he added: ‘You could do a panto just by yourself.’
Alex, who was bright crimson, waved her hands in front of her, unable to speak for a while as the Capital radio DJ chuckled alongside her.
Roman, who is leaving his radio programme to’refocus’ his career, struggled to find his words as he plunged into the next piece, but Jason wasn’t done yet.
‘Stop it,’ the son of Martin Kemp said while pointing at the comedian, who replied: ‘You’re careful what you say now, aren’t you.’
following everyone had calmed down, they continued on to the next segment, though Roman said he was careful his words following the incident.
