As comfort TV goes, it’s hard to outdo The Repair Shop – with the show having provided a whole lot of respite from lockdown over the past couple of years as the team work their magic on people’s broken sentimental items, to give them a new lease of life.

All too often the show leaves viewers – and guests – in tears, not to mention giving us the occasional unexpectedly disturbing moment.

While Jay Blades may be the frontman, we shouldn’t forget about its supporting cast of experts and repairs people – among them Steve and Suzie Fletcher.

The pair are related – but are they actually twins? Here’s what you need to know…

Are The Repair Shop’s Steve and Suzie Fletcher twins?

Although Steve and Suzie are not twins, they are indeed brother and sister.

Suzie is the older of the two – she’s 59, two years older than her brother, and the pair are from Oxfordshire.

While dad-of-five Steve is a horologist, specialising in the repair of clocks and watches, Suzie is a leather expert who has spent her career working with horses as a saddle maker and restorer.

She lived in the US for 22 years but returned to the UK after the sad death of her husband from pancreatic cancer, joining The Repair Shop after being persuaded to by her brother.

Suzie has since credited the show with helping her deal with her grief.

‘Every time [Steve] called he looked to be having such a good time I jokingly said, ‘If they need anyone to do leather I’m your gal,’ she recalled.

She added: “I really was joking but after several phone calls and a lot of reassurance from Steve I agreed to give it a go and joined the team.

‘I’m so happy I did as this has been one of the most enjoyable things I’ve ever been involved with – it’s also helped me through some very dark days.’

The Repair Shop continues on BBC One on Wednesday at 8pm.
