The Serpent viewers collectively breathed a sigh of relief after learning Dominique (Fabien Frankel) managed to safely escape serial killer Charles Sobhraj (Tahar Rahim) in tonight’s episode.
Tense scenes showed the Frenchman being secretly drugged by Charles, who later coerced him into working for him.
After suspecting he’d been drugged, Dominique demanded his passport be returned, but was denied. Another shock came when he discovered Charles had replaced the photograph in his passport with his own.
And if that wasn’t enough, Dominique also realised his tourist visa had expired, meaning his options to escape looked pretty slim.
But his luck changed when Charles, Monique (Jenna Coleman) and Ajay (Amesh Edireweera) took a trip to Hong Kong – allowing him the perfect opportunity to escape.
After telling Nadine (Mathilde Warnier) and her husband Remi (Grégoire Isvarine) what had happened to him, the couple helped Dominique fix his passport and find a visa.
Dominique soon boarded a flight back to France and eventually returned to his parents where he was finally safe.
Audiences were overjoyed to see the character was out of harm’s way and shared their relief on social media.
‘I cannot tell you how much I wanted Dominique to get safely home. Edge of seat stuff,’ wrote one.
Echoing a similar sentiment, another penned: ‘Okay now my hearts racing a little less but I’m so happy Dominique is back safe and sound.
‘This episode was definitely a tense one. I’m loving this series!’
Who else needs a lie down after that?
The Serpent continues on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One.
