The Simpsons watchers have just found that Ned Flanders might be Springfield’s biggest lothario, illustrating that it’s always the quiet ones to keep an eye out for.
The cartoon has been on our televisions for more than 30 years and has anticipated a lot of dramatic events, including Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, the World Cup final between Germany and Brazil, and Barbie-mania sweeping the globe.
However, we never saw this coming…
The proprietor of the Leftorium, aka’stupid Flanders’, is frequently shown as Homer’s antagonist, but it turns out that he may have gotten the last laugh, amassing over 50 wives in his time.
It must have been the bright red, skintight ski gear.
Fans on Reddit discovered a piece from the season 29 finale, which provides a small glimpse into the future of some of our favourite locals, indicating that the nice next-door neighbour is much more than we initially thought.
One member, SnooSnooSnuSnu, couldn’t help but make everyone laugh by sharing a screenshot on the Simpsons page from an episode named Flanders’ Ladder, depicting the numerous ladies he has wooed in Springfield.
Much of the 2018 episode centred on Bart going into a coma and being visited ‘by spirits seeking closure’; at the conclusion, he told Lisa that he knew how cherished residents, including Mr Smithers, Clancy Wiggum, and Seymour Skinner, would die.
The most fascinating aspect of all was a quick glance at Marge, who died at the age of 84 after marrying their neighbour at some time.
In the video, Ned can be seen placing her photo on a wall flanked by roughly 50 other ladies.
A plaque at the very top of the shrine read: ‘In memory of my dead wives’.
Reddit users couldn’t get enough of his prowess, and questioned how he managed to woo so many Springfielders.
‘Ned’s got quite the interesting body count,’ Embarrassedtrwy penned, reacting to the screenshot of the character in front of the shrine.
Boysetsfire1988 couldn’t help but agree: ‘Ned took “love thy neighbor” very seriously.’
Looking into things a little further, DoopieIsAdorable suggested: ‘Ned has had some young wives based on some of the photos. He has also possibly been the cause of a lot of divorces too.’
Captain Goodyear said what was on all our minds, adding: ‘So Flanders just basically bangs everyone’s mom.’
Viewers will be aware that he previously married Edna Krabappel and Maude Flanders, with whom he shares Rod and Todd, but there were some unexpected faces in the memorial.
Yes, we are staring at you Agnes Skinner, Helen Lovejoy, and Shauna Chalmers.
According to the flash forward, Ned walked down the aisle with Marge’s sisters, Patty and Selma, and we can imagine some awkward family meals in Springfield.
Fortunately, despite some predictions about how the Simpsons will finish, we still have many more adventures with Homer and co. to look forward to, so perhaps we’ll find out how Marge and Ned ended up together.
The Simpsons is available to stream on Disney Plus.
