After thinking they were in the money after clubbing together for lottery tickets, the group are left gutted and out for justice when they discover the money has already been claimed.

Turns out, their unsuspecting local shop owner has cashed in on their winnings.

Written by Kay Mellor, the team are soon in for an adventure as they discover that money isn’t everything.

Neil Morrissey leads the cast as Frank, the local newsagent who takes the winning ticket and does a runner to Monaco to start a new life.

As for the winners, Taj Atwal plays Roxy, Jake is played by Kieran Urquhart, Katherine Rose Morley plays Keeley, Liberty Hobb stars as Gemma, and Colette is played by Inbetweeners alum, Emily Head.

Kym Marsh plays Keeley’s mum Donna, who is struggling to make ends meet for her family, and Gaynor Faye plays Frank’s fiancee.

Joe Sugg also makes his acting debut this series, playing Sam, the rockstar boyfriend of Roxy who gets unceremoniously dumped when she wins the money.

Which is even more complicated considering she’s pregnant, and he’s not ready to adult up and be a dad.

What happened in series 3 of The Syndicate?

The Syndicate’s series three aired in 2015, and starred Lenny Henry in the leading role.

The winning group in that series were based in a rundown nursing home, but in an extra complication, a 17-year-old named Amy goes missing shortly after the team discover they’ve won £14million.

As the team try to figure out what to do with the money, they also need to figure out what happened to her.

Stars included Elizabeth Berrington, Waterloo Road’s Melanie Hill, Cara Theobold, Richard Rankin, Kieran O’Brien and Daisy Head.

The Syndicate runs as an anthology, focusing on a different group’s win every time. As a result, you don’t need to have watched previous series to understand the new one.

How long is The Syndicate and when does it start?

The Syndicate starts tonight at 9pm and will run for six weeks, every Tuesday on BBC One.

It will then be available on BBC iPlayer for anyone who missed out on them.

The Syndicate airs Tuesdays at 9pm on BBC One.
