The Tourist: Viewers convinced ‘Chloe will crack the case’ as they spot Line of Duty star

Warning: spoilers ahead for episode 1 of The Tourist.

The Tourist viewers were excited to see Line of Duty actor Shalom Brune-Franklin show up in the first episode, hopeful that she might prove just as savvy in the new Jamie Dornan drama.

In series six of Line of Duty, Shalom, 27, was introduced as DC Chloe Bishop, who works at AC-12 alongside Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar).

Chloe proved herself to be instrumental in the hunt for the bent copper in the latest episodes, dubbed ‘H’ or the ‘Fourth Man’.

So, when the actor showed up in mysterious thriller The Tourist, some were hoping that she may be able to help Jamie’s character, known as The Man, figure out who he is after suffering amnesia following a car accident.

When The Man receives his clothes back at the hospital, he finds a note in his jean pocket with a date and time to meet at a diner.

When he arrives at the diner, he meets a waitress called Luci (Shalom), who accidentally spills his lemonade on him before escorting him across the road to the bathroom to clean up, as the toilet in the restaurant isn’t working.

The pair cross the road shortly before the diner is blown to smithereens, indicating that someone knew that The Man was going to be there and targeted him with the aim of killing him.

Among the viewers who recognised Shalom from Line of Duty, one tweeted: ‘Chloe from Line of Duty is a bonus, she will crack it in no time.’

‘I spy Chloe from Line of Duty! She’ll get this solved I’m sure,’ another wrote.

However, by the end of the episode, it was revealed that Luci might actually turn out to be a suspect, rather than someone who can help The Man in the search for his identity.

In a later scene, the waitress is on her phone, going through old photos that she has with The Man and deleting them, hinting that they were in a relationship.

So was she the one who arranged to meet him at the diner, and why has she not revealed that they already know each other?

The first episode ended on a tantalising cliffhanger, as The Man received a phone call from another individual who has seemingly been buried alive.

With some people raving over the premiere and others finding it less gripping than they’d hoped, it’ll be intriguing to find out what the consensus is from audiences once they’ve seen all six instalments.

The Tourist is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
