Following the blazing success of season one of Claudia Winkleman’s murder mystery game, The Traitors producer Stephen Lambert has indicated that a second series could be on the way.
After 12 episodes that had the nation gripped, The Traitors ended abruptly before Christmas, leaving viewers begging for more.
Meryl Williams, Aaron Evans, and Hannah Byczkowski won a portion of the £101,050 prize pool after identifying and banishing all of the Traitors in the finale.
A celeb spin-off was previously rumoured, but it has already been revealed that no celebs will be sitting around that roundtable anytime soon.
However, it appears that there are discussions concerning a second season.
Speaking to Ros Atkins on the BBC podcast The Media Show, Stephen Lambert, CEO of Studio Lambert, the production firm behind The Traitors, answered the question we’ve all been asking: ‘I suppose a second series has been ordered by the BBC or will be soon?’
He replied: ‘They’re making the right noises.’
Keep your fingers crossed!
While season two has yet to be confirmed, the producers recently told Metro.co.uk that they would love to create a spin-off chat show or a reunion based on the show, which fans have been clamouring for.
‘We’d love one!’ Sarah Fay and Toni Ireland echoed in an exclusive chat, with Sarah continuing: ‘For a first series, we were always incredibly hopeful it will do well but you just never know.
‘So in our wildest dreams, we’d never imagined it would be this big.’
This follows series one’s enormous success, with the opening episode attracting a rather respectable 2.9 million viewers, but it has already been seen by almost five million viewers who have caught up on iPlayer, according to the BBC.
While we may have to wait a while for a second series in the UK, The Traitors US is set to premiere in just a few days and features an iconic cast that includes Below Deck icon Kate Chastain, Real Housewives’ Brandi Glanville, Survivor stars Cirie Fields and Stephenie LaGrossa, and Big Brother’s Cody Calafiore and Rachel Reilly.
They will compete alongside civilian contestants such as an influencer, a yoga instructor, a nurse, and a political analyst under the watchful eye of host Alan Cumming.
The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
