The shocking amount of viewers that turned in to witness The Traitors season two finale on Friday night has been revealed.
And, while we aren’t shocked that Claudia Winkleman’s gameshow swept the nation, the stats are staggering.
Traitor Harry Clark took home £95,150 after a season filled with Bafta-worthy events, blazing betrayals, Claudia’s amazing sweaters, and that dreaded fizzy rosé.
He persuaded Faithful Mollie Pearce that he was on her side, gradually removing fellow Traitor Andrew Jenkins and Faithfuls Evie Morrison and Jaz Singh.
Harry turned on initial traitors Paul Gorton, Ash Bibi, and Miles Asteri, while also recruiting and betraying Ross Carson.
And now we know how many people tuned in for his final seconds of gameplay.
The Traitors finale drew 6,900,000 viewers, with an average of 5,500,000.
Of course, it made it the most viewed show on TV in the previous week (since Monday), surpassing the season one final from last year, which received 3,100,000.
Following his win, Harry said: ‘I feel like I can breathe, cause I am me again, I am Harry again… I underestimated this massively, you come here and there is 22 amazing people, and from the off I have been a Traitor, I’ve had enough of being naughty and being bad because that was next level.’
When asked later on Uncloaked what he planned to do with his prize money, he shared: ’23 years old with that much money! I can’t even explain it. Money never makes me happy.
‘As long as I have a roof over my head, food, water, my family and my other half, that’s all I need.
‘That money is going to treat them, everything my mum and dad have done for me as kids, and they’ve given me everything I’ve needed, to be able to give them something in return is the best thing ever.’
The first season of The Traitors, based on the Dutch series De Verraders, received two Bafta TV awards. However, there is some good news for those who can’t get enough of the programme.
Applications for the third series of the game are now open for anybody looking to prove themselves.
A new season is now accessible on iPlayer, with more evil to come.
The Traitors is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
