Fans of The Traitors are going crazy over a threat to one of the show’s beloved characters.
In Thursday night’s dramatic episode, Traitors Paul, Miles, and Harry managed to elude detection once more, while Faithfuls Johnnie was expelled and Meg slain.
And while the three surviving Traitors, who had lost Ash in the previous episode, convened under the cover of darkness to plan their next assassination, they named one person in particular, causing viewers to lose their minds.
Tracey, Charlotte, and Diane are under threat of murder in the following episode.
Fans embraced Diane like a queen from the time she appeared on the programme, calling her’mother’ for her no-nonsense style, almost early suspicion of a Traitor, and that emotional moment when she revealed that Ross was her son.
And the prospect of losing ‘ar Di’ was too much to handle for many admirers, who flocked to X in droves to fully flip out.
User @MK200034 uploaded a video of a pub brawl with the caption ‘don’t you even think about it,’ which received hundreds of likes, and the other replies were similar.
Brattybarbi posted a video of a figure punching a man and saying, ‘Have some respect for your mother!’ Sarah Moore stated she would ‘RIOT’ if the Traitors killed Diane.
Sian Thymes commented ‘don’t you dare!!!!!!’ with a video of Kim Woodburn screaming’stop while you’re ahead!
User Zack wrote: ‘Queen mother and icon Diane up for potential killing,’ and shared a clip from Derry Girls with Aunt Sarah declaring ‘Christ, I feel sick.’
‘Paul better get Diane’s name out of his mouth,’ Conor Burke seethed, while Niamh declared ‘if I don’t see Diane walking through that door for breakfast at 9pm tomorrow I will riot.’
So far, it’s anyone’s game, with Traitor Paul seeming to get out of sticky situations just by being popular.
When Anthony accurately suggested Paul may be a traitor because of how he evaded being murdered after being sentenced, all Paul had to say was that it felt horrible to be accused, and the majority of the table melted.
Harry, however, voted for fellow soldier Johnny, successfully exiled him, and then bawled his eyes out, eliciting embraces and words of encouragement from the surprised Faithfuls.
Jaz, one of the few players who properly suspicions Paul, revealed in Harry that he believes Paul is a traitor and warned him to be wary.
Naturally, Harry rushed and told Paul right away.
Fans now wait till the next episode to discover where the drama leads them next, and whether Queen Diane will survive to fight another day.
The Traitors continues Friday at 9pm on BBC One.
