The View stars Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin given all clear to return after testing positive for Covid live on air

Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin have been given the green light to host The View after testing positive live on air.

It comes after Vice President Kamala Harris’ interview on the show was thrown into chaos on Friday morning after the shock test result.

Kamala had been waiting backstage when the news was announced, causing Sunny and Ana – who are both fully vaccinated – to immediately walk off the set.

However, both results have since proven to be false positives and the pair have been allowed to return to the show this week.

An ABC insider told the New York Post newspaper’s Page Six column: ‘[Sunny] is definitely returning to the studio [on Monday]. [Parent company] Disney said they’re clear. No quarantining is necessary.’

Friday’s show saw co-hosts Joy and Sara Haines forced to take questions from the audience at the time in order to fill airtime, before the interview with Kamala was moved back slightly.

Moderator Whoopi Goldberg had also been out of the studio since this past Tuesday’s episode.

While it’s a relief that the show’s hosts don’t have Covid, they were both ‘very emotional about it’ as they were due to interview Kamala in a high-profile interview.

‘They were p****d because everyone’s been waiting for this big interview for two weeks now, and then it was derailed because of a false positive,’ the insider continued.

Kamala still appeared on The View despite the pair’s absence, and praised them as ‘strong women’.

‘Sunny and Ana are strong women and I know they’re fine,’ she said. ‘But it really does also speak to the fact that they’re vaccinated and vaccines really make all the difference. Because otherwise, we would be concerned about hospitalisation and worse,’ she said.

The View airs weekdays on ABC in the US.
