When The Vivienne skated for the first time in Dancing On Ice 2023, people’s mouths dropped to the floor.
The Welsh drag queen, who sprang to stardom after winning Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK’s inaugural season, is paired with rookie Colin Grafton.
Before going on the ice, the TV star stated she was “honoured” to be “the first drag queen on Dancing on Ice” and that she and her partner would be “creating history.”
The pair did, however, encounter their fair share of challenges while learning lifts, tricks, and spins – and that was all before she entered the drag world!
She nevertheless made a splash with her entrance, falling from the ceiling dressed as Cher, in typical The Vivienne fashion!
The reality actress, 30, was skating to the famous song Strong Enough while sporting a black curly wig that remarkably resembled the American vocalist.
She certainly looked the part in a black sequined bodysuit and bold red lipstick.
The Vivienne served in her first performance, but it wasn’t just because of the Cher lewk; the judges gave her some really commendable marks as well.
The queen scored 28.5 points after executing twists and a stunning lift in a tribute to the Goddess of Pop.
Their skating, in Jayne Torvill’s opinion, was “so solid and smooth,” and she adored how much the drag queen seemed to delight in the performance.
Christopher Dean was also full of praise, giving her the highest score of the panel with 7.5.
‘A star was born on the ice tonight,’ the Olympian told her.
‘We’ve had a few divas, but you’re our best skating by far.’
The Vivienne’s performance was also much enjoyed by viewers at home, several of whom had to give her a second look after mistaking her for Cher.
‘Very here for The Vivienne going for full Cher drag’, one viewer tweeted, with another adding that she ‘makes a better Cher than Cher does.’
Another tweeted: ‘viv doing makeup to look like cher is icon behaviour and deserves to win just for that’.
Others expressed doubt about our ability to “top” Vivienne’s routine, and we have to acknowledge that we share their concern.
Loving the representation in this year’s line-up, one tweeted: ‘The Vivienne really was fantastic. I love that #DancingOnIce have a drag queen making herstory on Sunday night prime time.’
‘As a massive fan of drag and #DancingOnIce, it’s absolutely amazing to see @THEVIVIENNEUK make HISTORY as the first skating Queen! So refreshing to see it on prime time television too!’, praised another.
Dancing On Ice continues Sunday on ITV.
