Jeffrey Anderson, a former contestant on The Voice UK has been jailed for nine months for exposing himself in view of a 12-year-old schoolgirl.

The 31-year-old was convicted of committing a lewd act and outraging public decency after Belfast Crown Court heard that he had exposed himself while sitting in a parked car in June 2018.

At the time of the incident, Anderson was under investigation for voyeurism charges, of which he was later convicted.

Anderson had pleaded not guilty but a jury had in October rejected his claim that he was not masturbating in his mother’s sports car but ‘strumming a miniature guitar’.

He claimed that playing the guitar would have created a ‘similar motion’ to masturbation, adding: ‘The bottom line is that I know for a fact I was not exposed and I was not masturbating in my mother’s car on that day.’

The schoolgirl had testified that she had seen Anderson reclined in the seat of the car, naked from the waist down.

Anderson’s defence counsel had claimed that due to the ‘degree of fame he previously acquired, the public humiliation and vilification of him has been more significant than the norm,’ claiming the stories about the case when he searches his name have ‘taken a heavy toll on him’.

He had auditioned for The Voice in 2014, performing a Muse song in his blind audition but failed to convince any of the judges to turn.

Anderson was previously handed a three-year suspended sentence last July after admitting to secretly recording 11 women between 2005 and 2011.

After he was sentenced to nine months in prison, the judge told Anderson, per the BBC: ‘The time has long since passed where women and girls going about their business in public should be confronted by men like Jeffrey Anderson.’
