The Voice UK: Viewers fuming after coaches fail to turn for opera singer

Viewers of The Voice UK were left less than impressed after all four judges failed to turn for an opera singer.

Despite being moved by her vocal ability, Olly Murs, Anne-Marie, will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones all failed to turn for 25-year old Laura Sidney.

The radio broadcaster from Wales took to the stage in a bid to impress the judges with her rendition of With One Look by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Speaking after her stunning performance, Sir Tom admitted that he almost turned his chair.

‘I was in two minds to be honest with you because she sang so well,’ he began.

‘I liked the tone of her voice but I wouldn’t really know what to do.’

‘Having turned for a musical singer in the past, it’s hard to switch lanes,’ will.i.am added.

‘These are the auditions where I wish we could turn and say “That was great by the way”,’ Olly chipped in.

Several viewers expressed their disbelief and outrage that Laura received no turns.

‘I am so mad so so so so mad,’ one person tweeted.

‘Oh my god why did no one turn?’ another added.

Someone else described Laura as ‘incredible’, saying that they assumed she would be ‘right up Sir Tom’s street’.

‘Seriously Judges, that was fantastic!!!!’ another viewer commented.

Talking to the camera after her audition, Laura said: ‘I feel devastated at this point because I gave it my all.

‘It wasn’t meant to be today.’

In recent weeks The Voice fans have also expressed their anger after the coaches failed to turn for two rock singers.

During last week’s instalment, Rebecca Watkins, from Swansea, delivered an electric rendition of AC/DC’s 1980 song Back In Black.

The week before they also failed to spin their chairs for rock singer Kim Jennett after she belted out R.E.M’s Losing My Religion.

The Voice returns on Saturday at 8.30pm on ITV.
