The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln has spoken about the possibility of Rick Grimes returning before the show ends in season 11, saying he’d ‘ever say never’.
The actor said he’d be open to a return before the show wraps in 2022 – and fans would love to see him back.
Rick was last seen in season nine, losing his group, falling off his horse and being impaled on a bar before being rescued by Anne (Pollyanna McIntosh) who waved down a mysterious helicopter and whisked Grimmy off to a location currently unknown.
He will be coming back to the Walking Dead universe in the future, with AMC previously confirming three Rick Grimes-centric movies are on the way.
Speaking to SFX Magazine, Andrew Lincoln said he had ‘no idea’ about future plans, but he would happily return before the series ends.
‘I’m not filming at the moment. I’m still very much in lockdown. We’re very excited about how, at the first available opportunity, we’re going to go into production – there’s talk of it being spring. I can’t wait to get those cowboy boots,’ he said.

When asked if he’d open to a return to the main show before it comes to a close, Andrew said: ‘That’s a very good question. The easy answer is I have no idea.
‘I don’t think it’s written yet, but I would never say never to that because everybody that’s still doing the TV show are dear friends, and it’s an extraordinary feat that they’re still going and making this beautiful and ground-breaking show that still resonates with the world.’
Ever since Andrew left the main series, fans have been speculating as to whether or not his story will ever come to a close.
Season 10 could appear to have slowly set up his return, with Michonne (Danai Gurira) exit the show on a mission to relocate him.
