A new teaser for the upcoming final season of The Walking Dead has hinted at possible doom for one of the show’s most beloved characters, Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan).
In the sneak peek at season 11 of The Walking Dead, which is set to premiere later this month, Maggie’s voice can be heard at the very beginning, emphasising just how important it is that the survivors of their post-apocalyptic world protect what is most important in their lives.
‘What we have, compared to everything that’s out there, it’s rare. It’s why we need to take it back,’ she says, before receiving a gun from her former nemesis, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan).
At the very end of the teaser, Maggie is shown hanging off of something, holding on for dear life with her fingertips.
However, she loses her grip right before the clip ends, delivering a dramatic cliffhanger that will undoubtedly leave viewers feeling anxious as they wait to discover Maggie’s fate.
Elsewhere in the trailer, Aaron (Ross Marquand) states: ‘This is our home. We’ve got to fight to save it,’ while Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) says: ‘This is a path you don’t want to go down.’

Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) stresses that he never ‘leaves anybody behind’, holding a crossbow aloft in preparation for an attack.
Meanwhile, Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) states: ‘We live for them. If we die, we die for them,’ as Maggie is depicted falling to her possible death.
Last month, another trailer released for The Walking Dead teased ‘the beginning of the end’, with numerous fans expressing their excitement over what the new season has in store.
‘Words cannot express how excitedly petrified I am for this. looks MENTAL!!!!!!’ one person tweeted in response, while another said: ‘They are leaving us with a bang!! Soo can’t wait for this!! Best trailer! Got goosebumps.’
While it’s been three years since Andrew Lincoln last appeared as Rick Grimes in The Walking Dead, a film about his character is currently in the works.
The Walking Dead creator Rick Kirkham recently vowed that the movie will be ‘worth the wait’ despite the delays it has suffered, describing Love Actually actor Andrew as ‘amazing’.
‘I miss seeing Andrew Lincoln running around as Rick Grimes,’ he teased. ‘I can’t wait until we’re filming this thing and then this thing’s coming out, it’s gonna be awesome.’
The Walking Dead returns August 15 on AMC Plus or August 22 on AMC in the US. In the UK, the final series will air on Star on Disney+ from August 23.
