The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan stars in new music video for Tom Petty’s Something Could Happen

The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan is set to star in the new music video for the track Something Could Happen from the late Tom Petty.

The actress, who is known for her performance as Maggie on the horror series, shared a teaser of the new clip on social media ahead of its debut on Tuesday.

The clip shows a story book opening, with the pages reading: ‘Her heart was broken beyond repair. She packed her belongings and moved to a far away land, vowing never to love again. Days turned to months, months turned to years.’

The teaser video then sees Lauren discover a jewel in her home while watching Tom Petty perform on TV.

Tom Petty died from an accidental overdose in October 2017, aged 66. The legendary singer-songwriter was one of the most popular American musicians of the 70s and 80s, with hits like Free Fallin’, I Won’t Back Down and American Girl.

The posthumous single is the latest music to be released following the musician’s death.

Speaking about recording the video for Something Could Happen on Kimmel, Lauren said she only agreed to film under rigorous health and safety measures.

‘Before I did the video, I said, “Okay guys, I really want to do this video if you can follow all the same protocols that we are doing on The Walking Dead”,’ she said.

‘So they came in guns blazing and it was like sanitizer, and military operation, “Red team in, blue team out, shields down!” [It was] this whole thing, to the extent where I felt that I was being followed to the bathroom. And I just thought to myself, “I did wash my hands! I did!”’.

The music video will be revealed in full on Tuesday December 8.

Tom Petty’s family recently sent a cease and desist letter to Donald Trump, after the President played the icon’s hit I Won’t Back Down at a recent campaign rally.

Meanwhile, The Walking Dead has confirmed a 2021 release date with six new episodes on the way. Lauren left the show in season 9, before returning earlier this year.
