The Wanted’s Tom Parker is continuing to make amazing progress in his fight against an inoperable brain tumour – with wife Kelsey even planning more kids with him.
The young couple, who have a daughter Aurelia Rose, one, and four-month-old son Bodhi, were left devastated in October last year when Tom, 32, was diagnosed with the cancer.
But in January the pair were delighted to reveal that a first round of chemotherapy saw a significant reduction in the brain tumour, and are determined to keep fighting.
Appearing on Loose Women as Tom heads into his second round of chemo, Kelsey has spoken about her dreams of the future, including more children.
‘Oh 100% – I want four!’ she told the panel.
Coleen Nolan then asked for her advice for staying strong for your family members, as she is struggling herself with sisters Anne and Linda both currently being treated for cancer.
‘In the beginning [I struggled] because Tom lost so much weight, he wasn’t eating, he was down to eight and a half stone,’ Kelsey explained. ‘Obviously Tom’s a slight person anyway, so him losing weight, he couldn’t afford to.
‘It was more the frustration and that’s what made me upset and I found it really hard to remain positive then.
‘But now after we had this good news as well it’s like you know we’re on this roller coaster. We’re going forward and we’ve just got to remain as positive as we possibly can.’
‘Take every day as it comes. You’re on a roller coaster. Hold tight and just ride it because it is waves and waves,’ Kelsey added.
‘You get one good day and then you might get three bad days, but then you get another good day. So you just have to keep pushing forward.’
Kelsey and Tom are both delighted with his progress, with their children thankfully too young to realise the severity of the boy band star’s illness.
‘They don’t really know that daddy is ill at the moment,’ Kelsey said. ‘When Tom goes off to treatment, he’s off, he’s going to work or wherever he’s going.
‘So to them they don’t really know how ill their dad actually is, but they’re doing so well, kids, we’re all doing really well.’
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
