This Is England’s Thomas Turgoose has revealed that he’s going to become a dad for the first time.
The 29-year-old actor, who shot to fame playing Shaun Fields in in Shane Meadows’ acclaimed film and subsequent television series, confirmed in a statement shared on Instagram that his wife Charlotte Revell is pregnant.
Thomas posted a picture of a sonogram next to a black board which read: ‘We’ve been keeping a little secret…
Captioning the photo, he wrote: ‘The best year yet?’
A number of Thomas’s This Is England co-stars sent their congratulations to the actor, including Line Of Duty actress Vicky McClure, who wrote: ‘This makes me so happy! One lucky kid!! Huge congratulations!! Loads of love xxxxxx.’
Helen Behan, who played Evelyn in This Is England ’88, added: ‘Amazing news Tom and Charlotte xxx congratulations.’
Meanwhile, Kelly actress Chanel Creswell, wrote: ‘Omg how amazing!!!! Congratulations to both of you. Super excited.’
This Is England, Meadows’ controversial cult story of a group of skinheads, first aired in 2006 and was followed by three miniseries, set in 1986, 1988 and 1990.
Thomas previously told Metro.co.uk that he’d love the opportunity to get back into the role of Shaun if it ever came about.
‘It would be great and we’d jump at the chance to work together again,’ he said.
‘It’s become a cult series which is something we never expected, Stephen [Graham] playing Combo has become this icon and Shaun is very recognisable.
‘When we did This Is England 90, years ago, to think the characters haven’t been on screen for five years yet I think there isn’t a day goes by where someone isn’t saying on social media they’re watching the series. If you’re on the street, in the pub, people are still coming over saying they love the series.’
