*WARNING: Spoilers for This Is Us below*
Viewers have been left well and truly in their feelings after the emotional penultimate episode of This Is Us.
The beloved drama, starring Mandy Moore, Sterling K Brown and Justin Hartley, is due to come to an end next week, with the season six finale airing on May 24.
In the latest instalment, Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) loved ones said their final goodbyes to the matriarch following her heartbreaking battle with Alzheimer’s.
Her three children were able to spend poignant last moments with her before she tragically died, reuniting with husband Jack (Milo Ventimiglia).
Absolutely no one could cope with the scenes, with many in floods of tears at Rebecca’s exit.
Flocking to Twitter, a viewer wrote: ‘I cried so hard watching #ThisIsUs that my head hurts. I’m just going to continue to cry myself to sleep.
‘Check on your friends who watch This Is Us. We’re not okay.’
‘This episode is giving me chills and bringing me to tears like no other episode ever has,’ a follower agreed.
‘Heartbreakingly beautiful. This show is phenomenal beyond words. #ThisIsUs #ThisIsUsFinalChapter.’
‘Who would’ve thought that the word “hey” would’ve made me cry so much #ThisIsUs #ThisIsUsFinalChapter,’ a fan said.
While many, many more heaped praise on those behind the series, branding it the most ‘perfect’ episode of TV ever.
‘That was one of the greatest episodes of TV I’ve ever seen, just perfectly written and told,’ a Twitter user said. ‘Heartbreakingly beautiful. Also, I’m an absolute wreck. #ThisIsUs #ThisIsUsThefinalchapter.’
‘Everything about this episode was exceptional,’ one wrote. ‘It was so beautifully written and directed like it’s actually insane. It really gave me a whole new perspective on life and death. #ThisIsUs.’
Another added: ‘Not to be dramatic, but I think that was one of the best episodes of television I’ve ever seen.
‘There will never be another show like this. #ThisIsUs.’
Mandy recently opened up about the emotional ending to the series, and confessed that she actually ‘threw up’ after reading that script.
Appearing on an episode of The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this month, she recalled her instant reaction to the plot.
‘I will tell you that the penultimate episode, which airs in a week, I threw up after I read it,’ she told the host.
‘Maybe that’s just because it’s really close to the bone for me. This has been my life for the last six years…
‘I simultaneously have to say goodbye to the character, to my family and friends on set, and this character is also coincidentally saying goodbye as well, so there’s a lot wrapped up in it.
‘But I still think that you might need a day off from work.’
She added that the finale is more lighthearted – but we can predict more than a few tears for next week’s episode.
‘The finale is a bit more of a hug,’ Mandy added. ‘I think there’s a little bit more levity.
‘The second-to-last destroyed me. I have a feeling it might destroy people, too.’
This Is Us will come to an end on May 24 at 9/8c on NBC.
