Rylan Clark may return to anchor ITV’s This Morning alongside Josie Gibson, which is fantastic news!
The fan-favorite broadcaster hasn’t been seen as a presenter on the famed blue bus in 14 months, but he might make a triumphant comeback to the ITV afternoon programme next week.
He last hosted the show with his close friend Ruth Langsford in the summer of 2022 (but has since appeared as a guest), before taking a break, but now may be the ideal time to welcome the 35-year-old back as the series has lost its two main presenters – Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.
‘Rylan is already part of the This Morning family and an absolute presenting professional. He has experience both on the sofa and fronting his own telly shows so the audience are safe in his hands,’ a TV source shared.
With gigs like Big Brother’s Bit on the Side, Strictly spin-off It Takes Two, and BBC Radio 2, he’s clearly honed his art.
They added to The Sun: ‘He is excited about coming back into the fold and bosses are keen to see how viewers respond to him and his chemistry with Josie with the view to getting him back in again in the near future.
‘It’s been a turbulent time for the series and hosts like Rylan are vital when it comes to steadying the ship.’
The ‘turbulence’ comes after Phillip, 61, abruptly resigned in May after revealing a ‘unwise but not illegal’ romance with a younger staffer. Holly, 42, also left the show earlier this month, leaving This Morning with two openings.
Although Rylan never named anyone, he did mention ‘the walls starting to crumble’ for some people in the business in a May interview.
‘People can see through it all now. People can see who are the real ones and can very much see who isn’t,’ he told Waitrose & Partners’ Weekend.
‘I’ve been in this industry for nearly 11 years, and all I’ve ever been is nice and polite to people.’
He continued: ‘And that’s starting to pay off for me now because there are people in this industry who aren’t like that. They think they’re something special. And the walls are starting to fall.’
Rylan has already hinted at a future comeback to This Morning.
His name was tossed around as a substitute early this year, which irritated one spectator.
‘Please God not Rylan to replace @Schofe. He’s on everything and is even more fake than Phil,’ they typed on X, formerly Twitter.
Unfortunately for them, the Eurovision host saw their tweet and clearly wasn’t into the shade, merely replying, ‘Morning,’ with a thumbs-up emoji.
Loose Women presenter Denise Welch also clapped back at the fan, writing: ‘Think you’re in the minority there Carole. You didn’t have to say that out loud!!!’
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
