The Bafta TV Awards 2024 nominees have been released, and although several major series and individuals have been recognised, there are also some unexpected omissions.
The Crown, Happy Valley, and the Black Mirror episode Demon 79 are the leading candidates for the honours.
However, numerous fan favourites were omitted in the categories.
Although ITV’s popular morning show is normally a lock for a nomination at the National Television Awards, it has not received a nomination in the daytime category.
Lorraine, Loose Women and Men, Make It At Market, and Scam Interceptors are the shows in contention.
Meanwhile in the reality category, I’m A Celebrity. Get me out of here! There is no sign of Big Brother.
The shows nominated for the prize are Banged Up, Married At First Sight UK, My Mum, Your Dad, and Squid Game: The Challenge.
Ghosts’ last season likewise received no written comedy nominations, with Big Boys, Dreaming Whilst Black, Extraordinary, and Such Brave Girls receiving nods instead.
Another omission is James Norton’s final appearance as Tommy Lee Royce in Happy Valley’s third season, which came to an explosive end at the beginning of last year.
Instead, leading actor nominees include Brian Cox for Succession, Dominic West for The Crown, Kane Robinson for Top Boy, Paapa Essiedu for The Lazarus Project, Steve Coogan for The Reckoning, and Timothy Spall for The Sixth Commandment.
However, his previous co-stars Sarah Lancashire, Siobhan Finneran, and Amit Shah received awards for leading actress, supporting actress, and supporting actor.
