Josie Gibson of This Morning is said to be in discussions for I’m A Celebrity… According to rumours, Get Me Out of Here! will cost a hefty £100,000 in fees.
Jill Scott, Mike Tindall, Boy George, and Matt Hancock took on the beasts in the jungle in the last series, while Carol Vorderman and Paul Burrell returned to take on the bushtucker challenges in an All Stars edition earlier this year.
Josie, who took over presenting This Morning alongside Holly Willoughby when Phillip Schofield abruptly stepped down, rocketed to prominence after winning Big Brother in 2010.
She is now claimed to be ‘in discussions’ to join the ranks of other ITV stars who have competed in the jungle, such as Linda Robson and Charlene White, for a hefty sum.
A source revealed: ‘I’m A Celeb producers have begun negotiations with Josie’s team to try and lure her with a £100,000 contract.
‘Talks are at an advanced stage.’
The insider added to The Sun: ‘Josie has been a fan of the series for many years and is interested and looking at the bigger picture of her TV career.’
When approached for comment, an ITV spokesperson said: ‘Any names suggested for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here are just speculation.’
The show’s greatest payday is said to have gone to Boy George in the most recent series of I’m A Celebrity, which saw Lioness Jill named Queen of the Jungle.
The Culture Club star was reportedly paid $1 million (£879,000) to appear on the show prior to his appearance.
Meanwhile, former health minister Hancock was paid £320,000 for 30 days of jungle labour, despite rumours that the total cost might approach £400,000.
A spokesperson later confirmed that Hancock donated just £10,000 to charity, after promising to do so, saying: ‘As well as raising the profile of his dyslexia campaign in front of 11-million viewers, Matt’s donated £10,000 to St Nicholas Hospice in Suffolk and the British Dyslexia Association, off the back of his appearance on I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here.’
The speculation comes after Josie appeared with Holly on two episodes of This Morning this week, filling in for Schofield.
After rumours of a ‘fallout’ between Holly and Schofield spread, he subsequently admitted to lying about a secret romance he had with a younger runner on the programme, which has now stopped, saying it was ‘unwise but not unlawful.’
On Monday, June 5, Holly gave an emotional message to her audience, her eyes welling up with tears as she spoke about how’shaken’ and ‘let down’ she felt in her remarks.
On Monday and Tuesday, she was joined by Josie, who subsequently posted a photo of them on Instagram.
In her caption, the 38-year-old said: ‘Thank you to this legend and her infectious energy!!! @hollywilloughby you are such a fabulous broadcaster… loved our last two days together.
‘Passing the baton onto @craigadoyle I will be out in the sunshine bringing you an incredible competition from a canal boat. Don’t miss us tomorrow from 10am on @thismorning.’
Holly reshared the image on her Instagram Story, captioning it with a simple yellow heart.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
