Dan Hatfield of This Morning has recounted an embarrassing call he received from employers after making an interview error.
In recent weeks, Holly Willoughby has been joined by Alison Hammond and Josie Gibson to help the ITV show recover from the controversy.
Phillip Schofield resigned from the show after accusations that their relationship was deteriorating and they were “barely communicating.”
After his bombshell revelation of a ‘unwise but not illegal’ romance with a younger staffer, he sensationally quit from all ITV projects.
Meanwhile, Holly took a break from the programme and returned feeling “shaken, worried, let down,” and “full of questions.”
Despite reports of ‘toxicity’ on the set of This Morning by previous guests Dr Ranj Singh and Eamonn Holmes, Holly continued to broadcast the show without mentioning the claims, while Alison and Dermot also dismissed ‘nonsense’ rumours elsewhere.
However, a This Morning guest has described a’scary’ phone chat with ITV executives.
Dan has made several appearances on the show, giving viewers money-making ideas.
The pawnbroker has now spoken out about his experience on the show, calling it a “dream come true” and describing himself as “very, very blessed.”
However, following his interview with Alison and Dermot, he received an embarrassing call from his supervisors, leading him to believe he was in danger.
The Million Pound Pawn star explained to the Daily Star: ‘I got in my car afterwards to come back home, and I’d taken a couple of bottles of water for the journey back.’
On his way back, Dan received a phone call from a number he ‘didn’t know’, he said, adding: ‘It was one of the editors from This Morning and they asked me where I was.
‘I thought that I was getting in trouble cos I had taken a couple bottles of water with me.’
Producers had really called Dan to ask if he’d be interested in making future appearances on the show.
‘This Morning has really welcomed me with open arms. It’s lovely to be a member,’ he added.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
