This Morning will broadcast live from Buckingham Palace to mark Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with ‘host of special guests’

This Morning will get a new royal surrounding this week as the show will air live from Buckingham Palace.

The ITV daytime favourite is moving lodgings on Tuesday (May 24) with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby hosting a special edition of the programme to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

The exciting announcement was made at the top of Monday’s show as Gyles Brandreth made his entrance with royal trumpeters blaring out an introduction.

Addressing Holly and Phil, he said: ‘You have been given a royal appointment for tomorrow as we’ll be broadcasting live from Buckingham Palace, to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.

‘You will be taking a look back at the Queen’s magnificent 70-years of sovereign with a host of special guests. We look forward to welcoming you live from 10 o’clock tomorrow morning as the celebrations begin at Buckingham Palace.’

‘I’m so excited,’ Holly added, while Gyles revealed he will be on site too for all the excitement.

They didn’t reveal any of the guests set for the show, but it’s sure to be a star-studded affair.

The announcement comes a few days after This Morning cook Juliet Sear revealed the Queen’s favourite food as part of the show’s series Juliet’s Jubilee Bakes.

‘The Queen is known to be a real chocoholic,’ Sear recently said. ‘She particularly loves dark chocolate and, according to an ex-royal chef, she loves chocolate biscuit cake.

‘One of her favourite puddings is chocolate perfection pie, which features a pastry base with a soft chocolate and cinnamon cream filling…’

Sear also suggested introducing Her Majesty’s favourite tipple, Dubonnet, into the mix by making a royal trifle, and while show-stopping bakes should be the centrepiece of any party table, people shouldn’t neglect savoury food.

‘You can arrange sausage rolls in the shape of a “7” and a “0” or designed to look like a crown,’ she advised. ‘I’m a big fan of using food colouring to create special party food.

‘Egg wash is a mixture of egg and water that is used to brush on top of breads and pastries, so add food colouring to that to give a red, white and blue effect.

‘It’s also the perfect occasion for simple, nostalgic food like cucumber or coronation chicken sandwiches, scones and a cheese-and-pineapple hedgehog.’

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
