This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes was forced to wear glasses throughout today’s programme on ITV thanks to a ‘scary’ stye.
The presenter was joined alongside his wife Ruth Langsford on the show, and kicked off the episode by thanking viewers for their messages regarding his visage.
‘Thank you for all of your concern again today,’ Eamonn told audiences. ‘For those of you asking, yes the eye still is very sore. It’s so scary I can’t take off my glasses. It’s so frightening. It’s not pretty.
‘The glasses have got to stay on to cover up the stye.’
Eamonn then added that he felt he looked like Worzel Gummidge and worried that his black frames were sat wonky on his face.
‘I’ve got a big head,’ he pointed out, before adding: ‘It wouldn’t be the first time someone has said that but there you go.’
Eamonn wore glasses on yesterday’s show too, telling viewers: ‘The glasses are going to stay on all day folks or I’d frighten the wits out of you.’
He then turned to Ruth and asked: ‘What did I look like this morning?’
‘Literally frightened the wits out of me,’ Ruth replied. ‘He couldn’t see, eye was closed up and all swollen.’
Luckily, Dr Hilary Jones came to his aid and sorted him out.
A stye is a small, painful lump on or inside the eyelid or around the eye. The skin may be red, swollen and filled with yellow pus-like a pimple. Your eye may be red and watery but your vision should not be affected.
Styes are often caused by bacteria infecting an eyelash follicle or eyelid gland.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
